FILMMAKERS WORKSHOP

Miami Light Project is announces the lineup of programs for our 2012 Filmmakers Workshop Series. This year's series features collaborations with Miami International Film Festival, Dances Made to Order and Miami Filmmakers Collective who will bring classes and discussions to engage and educate South Florida-based emerging and professional filmmakers. Miami Light Projects Filmmakers Workshop Series is free and open to the public and will take place at The Light Box at Goldman Warehouse, 404, NW 26 Street, Miami FL 33127.

Everything Will Be Fine

Writer-director Ana Piterbarg will promote the screening of her film, Everybody Has a Plan (selected for the prestigious Toronto Film Festival), and will elaborate on the ten years it took to bring her script to screen.

Conversation with Cristián Jimenez

The award-winning film director, Cristián Jimenez, will discuss the process of adapting the acclaimed Chilean novel, Bonsai, for the screen.  Comparing the experience of working with an original script for his 2009 debut feature film, Optical Illusions, Jimenez will illuminate his process with each project.

Dances Made to Order

Miami Light Project partnered with the web based film festival- Dances Made to Order to curate a South Florida edition of dance made specifically for film. This panel will feature the three talented filmmakers/choreographers, Belaxis Buil, Carla Forte and Marissa Nick, who will discuss the process of creating dance specifically for film in a structured time period.

Maestra  

A film screening and Q&A with director Catherine Murphy. Cuba, 1961: 250,000 volunteers taught 700,000 people to read and write in one year. 100,000 of the teachers were under 18 years old. Over half were women. Meastra explores this story through the personal testimonies of the young women who went out to teach literacy in rural communities across the island - and found themselves deeply transformed in the process.
